Fall Tips:clean it up

The Autumn is a perfect time to invite in a cleanse in preparation for heavier eating of winter.

A cleanse can be done anywhere from 3-10 days and you get to choose what elements you able to commit to. Once you do decide stay steadfast in your commitment and know that the discipline will yield sweet results. As always remember that things sometimes get worst before they get better.
 The Basics:

1. An Inversion a Day Keeps the Doctor Away:  start your day with legs up the wall (10-15min). This will stimulate the lymphatic system to drain and awaken your nervous system.

2. Hydrate: in the morning drink at least two glasses of water with lemon a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar and a touch of honey. This will alkalize your system. During the day sip on ginger and fennel tea which will help cleanse the digestive tract.

3. Take a Break From: send coffee, gluten, dairy, bread, meat and sugar on vacation. Both substances are very acidic and will hinder the body's ability to heal tissues and reduce inflammation. If you still crave sweets eat sweet veggies, fruits, and high quality sweeteners in moderation. For protein each small fish like sardines sprinkled with kelp granules and a side of leafy greens to create internal balance. check out other healthy fish choices here. Eat as many veggies as you can get your hands on especially greens. Use gluten free grains like millet and quinoa.

4. Relax: add new rituals into your day like breath breaks, a walk out in nature, journaling, a bath with soothing essential oils like lavender. Get a loofah or exfoliating gloves to keep the pores open. Make time to sweat in a sauna or be outside in humid heat. If you practice yoga incorporate more twists into your routine to squeeze and soak the digestive organs.

Herbs: if you want to take your cleanse to the next level explore some of these potent detoxifiers. If you are not familiar with these please spend some time asking your health food store guides or research them online. Start with the small recommended dosage and then increase as appropriate. It is best to take most of these either in the morning and/or before you go to bed.

1. Turmeric: a digestive magician this herb will heal the intestinal walls, help with digestion, and fights unfriendly cancer cells. Capsules or powder.

2. Milk Thistle: a potent cleanser for the liver helps rejuvenate liver cells. Tincture.

3. Triphala: 3 ayurvedic fruits that help heal the colon and digestive tract. Capsules.

4. Adapatogens: ashwaganda and rhodiola rosea both support the nervous and immune system to adapt to stress. Capsules.

5. Green Foods: green food powders have potent vitamin and minerals and help alkalize the body. Powder. Recommended Sun is Shining from Sun Foods. Nettles are also worth looking at as they are high in calcium, magnesium, iron, silicon, vitamin C and protein.
